2018 National Trustees Gathering on Aboriginal Education & CSBA Congress In July 2018, school board trustees from across the country gathered in Halifax for the annual National Trustess Gathering on Aboriginal Education (since changed to Indigenous Education) and CSBA Congress. It was a very well attended conference, especially given the unusual circumstances in Nova Scotia. Just a few months prior to the conference, English school boards were eliminated, and the Nova Scotia School Boards Association was dissolved. With the remaining NSSBA staff working on a few items, and the major support of the Ontario Public School Boards Association, CSBA was able to carry on with the conference as planned. NATIONAL CONFERENCE The program for both the Gathering and Congress featured world class researchers, an Indigenous Affairs advocate and comedienne, First Nations Elders, local highland dancers, traditional Mi'kmaq drummers, and workshops hosted by various specialists. The East Coast hospitality was in full swing as delegates enjoyed downtown Halifax. And of course, no visit to Nova Scotia would be complete without a lobster dinner! Thank you to everyone who pulled together to make the 2018 conference a reality.
