Awards Evening As part of ASBAs Fall General Meeting, attendees celebrated first-year teachers, communitypartners and school boards/trustees who have made notable contributions to students andeducation in Alberta. During the event, the Honourable Salma Lakhani, AOE B.Sc., LLD (Hon),Lieutenant Governor of Alberta provided remarks. Business Day As part of ASBAs Fall General Meeting, locally-elected public, catholic and francophonemember school boards came together for the Business day and passed position statementsthat will guide provincial advocacy. Attendees heard remarks from the HonourableDemetrios Nicolaides, Minister of Education. Additionally, new and re-elected Directors andAlternate Directors took their Oaths of Office and the 2024-2025 Board of Directors werewelcomed. MLA Breakfast and Professional Development Day As part of ASBAs Fall General Meeting, attendees heard remarks from the HonourableDanielle Smith, Premier of Alberta. The MLA Breakfast was held providing an opportunity forASBA and member school boards to engage with a variety of cabinet ministers and MLAs onpriorities and proposed solutions. Attendees also participated in professional developmentproviding insights into key topics for member school boards.36'
