b'2024-2025 Annual Report Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Anti-Racism(DEIAR) Policy ChangesThe development of an anti-racism in education strategy is linked to one of the strategic prioritiesof the CSBA. The CSBA is committed to revising its policies and procedures to improve diversity,equity, inclusion, and anti-racism (DEIAR). CSBA maintains our commitment to support our member associations in examination of their ownactions and policies on anti-racism. Through work with Dr. Jerome Cranston, Dean of the Faculty ofEducation at the University of Regina, the CSBA Board of Directors completed self-assessmentsand reviewed CSBA policies. The University of Regina final report included changes to CSBA policylanguage to increase DEIAR. Judy White, who carried out revisions to the constitution and allpolicies in 2020 is preparing drafts for consideration by the DEIAR Work Team for subsequentrecommendation to the Board. We are also grateful to Carmen Batista from BCSTA for her supportin this work.The Board was pleased to share resources from the University of Regina Equity and Racial JusticeProject, involving three modules available online. These modules stemmed from the work withCSBA, and are excellent for governing school board members. Council of Ministers of Education CanadaSchool Boards Associations work collaboratively with provincial and territorial ministries ofeducation. At the national level, the ministers come together as the Council of Ministers ofEducation Canada (CMEC) to establish national priorities. As the national voice of school boards,the CSBA reaches out regularly to the CMEC on common strategic priorities.One of the key areas of common concern is teacher recruitment and retention, specifically FrenchMinority Language and French Second Language teacher shortages.18'
