Inaugural Round of Provincial Teacher Bargaining Starting in spring, 2022 MSBA was tasked with developing a framework to exercise our role as bargaining agent on behalf of all public school divisions (excepting the Division scolaire franco-manitobaine) for the first round of single-table teacher bargaining in Manitoba. At end of June 2023, the Manitoba Teachers Society, being the union for all instructional employees in Manitoba, filed for interest arbitration dates in keeping with the timeframes for earliest available hearings. Throughout 2023 and 2024, MTS and MSBA proceeded with regular negotiations and talks. Negotiations have therefore continued, even as both parties now prepare for potential arbitration hearings this coming fall, should no settlement be reached in early 2024. Inaugural Round of Provincial Teacher BargainingNew 2023-2027 Strategic Plan During our last update to CSBAs annual report, we were excited to announce the adoption of a new, multi-year strategic planning process to guide the operational work of our association in years ahead. Over the summer of 2023, MSBA Executive sought input via survey from members, with a wealth of feedback collected to inform the creation of our new Plan. During the Fall and Winter of 2023/24, we distilled the main take-aways into a set of priorities, objectives and goals over a four year period, which was announced during our 2024 convention. With a focus on strengthening our advocacy, enhancing our services and with many recommendations for expanded or new professional development and providing leadership through coordination of the key work of our 38 member boards, we are excited to embark on this meaningful journey to deliver targeted results, not least of which includes welcoming our CSBA family to Winnipeg next year as the hosts of the 2025 Congress and National Trustee Gathering on Indigenous Education!'
