b'CYBERBULLYING AND ONLINE CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATIONOVERVIEWAt a young age, students learn about traffic and fire safety but when should they begin learning about safety online? Since March 2021, CSBA has used its social media platforms to feature Public Safetys facts and infographics oncyberbullying and online child sexual exploitation (OCSE). These campaigns direct Canadian pre-teens andteenagers, and parents and caregivers of youth aged 5-17, to Public Safetys resources on these critical topics. The OCSE campaign increases awareness levels of online child sexual exploitation by increasing understanding that persons under 18 who engage in sexting could be at risk of OCSE. Public Safety notes that this can happenanywhere in Canada; it is not something that happens somewhere else. The cyberbullying campaign informs youth and caregivers where they can get help to deal with cyberbullying. The campaign also empowers young people to take action to protect themselves and others from cyberbullying.CSBA encourages everyone involved in education to view Public Safetys teachers toolkits, which featurepresentations, fact sheets, posters, and educational videos for use with the youth you support.
