b'INDIGENOUS LEADERS PANELOVERVIEWOn October 8, 2020 the CSBA hosted an online panel discussion entitled, Were ready now, lets talk:Reflections from Indigenous Trustees.Moderated by AFN Director of Languages and Learning and CSBA Board Member Renee St. Germain, Indigenous leaders, Barbara Flett, Kimberly Greyeyes,Darren Googoo, and Peter Garrow shared their expertise and experiences as trustees in three different provinces. They addressed how to move beyond tokenism, the importance of authentic representation, and the importance of anti-racisteducation. Panelists spoke candidly about their experiences as a trustee and assumptions related to who they represent. A second Indigenous Leaders panel was held on March 11, 2021. Mary Culbertson, Saskatchewan TreatyCommissioner, Colleen MacPherson, and John Chenoweth joined moderator Renee St.Germain, AFN Director of Languages and Learning and CSBA Board member. The panelists spoke to the theme, How to engage and build relationships with Indigenous leaders and organizations. The CSBA thanks the panelists, Moderator Renee St. Germain and committee member Darren McKee for their leadership and expertise in planning and supporting these vitally important learning opportunities.
