Statement from the President

March 12, 2025

Alan Campbell, President Canadian School Boards Association

The Canadian School Boards Association (CSBA) has been a long-standing advocate for universal access to healthy school food for all students. The CSBA represents school boards and school board associations throughout the country and has worked collaboratively with partner organizations and federal leaders in support of the National School Food Program.

The signing of provincial/territorial-federal agreements that ensure healthy food at school is critical to the well-being and learning of children and youth. The Government of Canada, provinces and territories must recognize First Nations jurisdiction, traditional practices, and food sovereignty as the National School Food Program progresses.

On behalf of the board of directors, President Campbell acknowledges the commitment of the Honourable Jenna Sudds, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, for working with colleagues at all levels to bring this program to fruition. Together with the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Agriculture and Agrifoods, and provinces and territories, leaders of all political stripes have come together collaboratively to the benefit of millions of Canadian students, families and communities.

As a national non-partisan organization, the CSBA works collaboratively with federal, provincial and territorial governments and is the voice for school boards at the national level.
