b'REPORTS Finance Committee The Finance Committee exists under the mandate of the Constitution. The Committee meets as needed and oversees the budget and ensures accountability.Under the leadership of Chair Shawn Davidson, the Committee reviewed the processes for audit services and financial services. Following a request for proposals process (RFP) the Committee recommended and the Board approved the appointment of Fuller Landeau as the auditors for the CSBA for the next three years.The Committee also explored options for the provision of financial services. Following a review and thorough deliberations, the Committee recommended and the Board approved continued provision of services by JDM CPA Inc. at a fixed rate for the three-year period.The work of the finance committee is essential in ensuring that moneys are appropriately allocated and spending is consistent with the budget and board decisions.Strategic Plan Work Team Based on the results of a survey reported in the 2019 Annual Report, the CSBA Strategic Planning Work Team revised the Strategic Plan. Under the leadership of Cathy Abraham, the Work Team revised the plan, which was approved by the Board.The Work Team recommended and the Board approved four strategic areas: 1.Strategic Area: Advocacy: CSBA is the national voice in issues that are important to educationcontinued growth in profile.Member associations are supported in their advocacy work. Members and partners have access to research-based evidence on the role and value of governing school boards, and the links to student achievement and well-being. 2.Strategic Area: Indigenous Education Indigenous Education work continues to be advancedwith a focus on promoting information sharing and relationships through leveraging provinces and partners. Members and partners are aware of the CSBA Indigenous Education work. 3.Strategic Area: Trustee Development Trustees have access to a CSBA on-line Trustee Development Program that leads to a certificate: oGovernance and ethics oIndigenous Education oFinance oAdvocacy oTrustee Induction oTrustees and student achievement'
