The Canadian School Boards Association 2026-2027 President and Vice-president Announced
The Canadian School Boards Association (CSBA) congratulates Shali Baziuk on her election as president of the CSBA, and Dr. Shawn Davidson on his acclamation as Vice-president during the CSBA’s Annual General Meeting held on July 6, 2026 in Whistler, British Columbia.
President Baziuk’s election reflects her longstanding commitment to locally elected school board governance, public education, advocacy, government relations, and collaboration among school boards across Canada.
Baziuk has long service with the Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA). Prior to being elected as President in November 2025, she served as ASBA’s Vice-president from November 2021 to 2025 and a Director between 2019 and 2021.
“I am honoured to serve as President of the Canadian School Boards Association,” said Baziuk. “School boards across Canada are navigating complex issues, but we are united by a shared commitment to the success of students and strong local governance. I look forward to working with Vice-president Dr. Davidson and colleagues across the country to support CSBA’s strategic priorities and help strengthen the national voice of school boards.”
Dr. Shawn Davidson is pleased to begin his second year as the CSBA Vice-president. He carries a strong commitment to maintaining autonomous, locally elected voice in public education governance.
First elected as a school board trustee to the Prairie South School Division in 2009, Dr. Davidson’s long service in public education will continue to support the work of CSBA. As the current President of the Saskatchewan School Boards Association and having served on the Provincial Executive for the past 10 years, Dr. Davidson brings a wealth of experience to the CSBA table. He is looking forward to working with President Baziuk and the new executive in the coming year.
