The Board of Directors of the Canadian School Boards Association is very pleased to announce that Janet Stewart will join our organization as the National Executive Director effective June 1, 2025.

The CSBA’s vision is to support democratically elected school boards, achieving student success and well-being through diverse, equitable and inclusive public education. Janet’s experience as a classroom teacher, school administrator, senior school district administrator, and chief operating officer of the BC Public School Employers’ Association, provides her with a wealth of expertise in working with school boards as they carry out their mandates as the locally elected governors of public education.

The landscape of public education in our country continues to shift as local public schools become increasingly important centers for student safety, learning and inclusion in their communities. The CSBA Board of Directors looks forward to working alongside Janet as our new Executive Director in support of our members in their important work.

Transition of roles and responsibilities between outgoing Executive Director, Nancy Pynch-Worthylake and Janet Stewart will take place between June 1 and August 30, 2025.
