I was at our formal voting School Board Meeting last night – and our BC School Trustee Association Provincial Council Representative had just come back from Provincial Council in Vancouver – and was very alarmed to hear that a number of Provinces in Canada have axed School Boards. However – she could not remember how many off the top of her head.
Please direct me to where I could read more about this.
Thank You, Rhonda Hamilton Smith, Trustee, Rocky Mountain School District, #6

    Hi Rhonda,
Nova Scotia is the most recent province to completely abolish English school boards. The Francophone school board remains as they are a minority language. Prince Edward Island no longer has governing school boards, and in Newfoundland they have one English and one French school board for the province. New Brunswick had eliminated school boards a few years ago, but have since brought in District Education Councils.
