Statement on Truth and Reconciliation in 2021
This week, Canada observed its first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and several days of related education and activities. The Canadian School Boards Association acknowledges that Reconciliation must be always in our thoughts and discussions.
Reconciliation is a priority area for CSBA, its trustees, and educational staff across Canada. We are committed to recognizing and continuing the conversations about Every Child Matters, truths about treaties and land claims, and the realities of residential schools.
We endorse the continuous learning and integration of First Nation, Métis and Inuit peoples’ culture and connections to the land we share.
We must all do this together—and we can—to bring about Reconciliation.
